In the fire bottle and hydrogen bottle production workshop of Tianhai Industry, the standardized operation process makes the gas bottle production appear orderly. “There are many specifications of hydrogen bottles used in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and they are all produced here.” The field staff told everyone. Actually, in the hydrogen energy industry chain, the storage and transportation of hydrogen energy is the key to the efficient utilization of hydrogen energy, and it is also the key to restrict the development of hydrogen energy and fuel cell industry in China. Because of the special physical and chemical properties of hydrogen, it is difficult and costly to store and transport hydrogen.

“For example, in the automotive field, the higher the pressure unit of the hydrogen bottle, the longer the car can run.” At present, the domestic mainstream application is 35MPa high-pressure hydrogen storage bottle, which belongs to “Type-III bottle”. The pace of R&D never stops. Tianhai Industry has undertaken two sub-tasks of the new energy vehicle major project of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China - the research and development of 70MPa compressed hydrogen aluminum liner carbon fiber fully wound composite gas cylinder for vehicles, which successfully passed all the type tests (including hydrogen cycle tests) required by GB/T 35544-2007 Fully-wrapped carbon fiber reinforced cylinders with an aluminum liner for the on-board storage of compressed hydrogen as a fuel for land vehicles, thus obtaining the national product certificate. This also makes Tianhai Industry an enterprise that has completed the national standard certification of 70MPa large volume Type-III bottle for hydrogen fuel commercial vehicles. Since the development of hydrogen buses in China, the 70MPa Type-Ⅲ bottle has not been mounted on road buses and public buses, which greatly limits the driving distance of commercial vehicles, thus hindering the development speed of hydrogen commercial vehicles. This time, Tianhai Industry breaks through many technical difficulties, and the 70MPa Type-Ⅲ bottle designed and produced by itself is put on the market, which is of great significance to the development of hydrogen energy commercial vehicles and pushes hydrogen fuel commercial vehicles into the era of long-distance operation.

Minghui Tianhai, a subsidiary of Tianhai Industry, has always adhered to the attitude of innovation and development for many years to open up new technologies and fields for welding insulated gas cylinders. From industrial gas supply to civil oxygen supply, from industrial field to vehicle field, from helping “coal to gas” to practicing low-carbon transportation, Minghui Tianhai has always contributed its own strength with professional technology and industrial accumulation. In recent years, Minghui Tianhai has successively developed new products, such as HPDI T6 gas cylinder, large-diameter HPDI gas cylinder and civil mini liquid oxygen bottle, to meet the needs of the society and the market; in addition, it actively researches and develops liquid hydrogen bottles and speeds up the “neck-sticking” technology to promote the sustainable development of China’s hydrogen energy industry.

In recent two years, Tianhai Low Temperature, a subsidiary of Tianhai Industry, has undertaken a number of demonstration projects of marine tanks at home and abroad, reflecting its independent design, research and development and manufacturing capabilities, mainly including 12 sets of 170 cubic meters marine tanks in COSL PSV project and two sets of 180 cubic meters marine deck tanks supporting an 8500 cubic meter Type-C tank dedicated LNG fuel filling ship. Both projects are marine equipment integrating LNG storage tank and tank connection space (“TCS” for short), and have extremely high requirements for customization of product vacuum design, product weight and integrated system design.

In the next step, Tianhai Industry will continue to improve its political position, correctly judge the current complicated and changeable situation, overcome the unfavorable factors such as epidemic situation, rising raw material prices and exchange rate fluctuations, seize strategic opportunities in five aspects: integration, adjustment, revitalization, focus and quality improvement, speed up technology research and development, speed up the solution of the key core technology “neck-sticking” problem, speed up the improvement of market-oriented operation mechanism, build an information management platform and carry out digital transformation to realize expansion of hydrogen industry chain.
